And I feeeeeeel fiiiiiiiiiiiiine! Ok, so space is running out on the big round rock some extinct shrunken head collector used to keep track of how many times the great yellow ball in the sky popped up in the east and dissolved in the west and the History Channel has the more naive among us freaking out (a little). If you're a regular reader here you'll note that's not my first allusion to the Mayan "calendar"', nor will it be the last. When I'm writing more and more about Lake Keowee Real Estate (in 2013, 2014, 2015, etc, etc, ad infinitum) and I've worn the joke slap out, maybe then I'll give it a rest. As for today and tomorrow and next week and next month (more familiarly known as 2012), chances are pretty good that things aren't going to change too dramatically. Banks will continue to battle through the glut of property owners who are late with payments or have stopped paying all together. More and more folks will hopefully begin to become accustomed to that reality soon and let go of the tenuous hold they had on the dreams of those quick turnaround days (and property values) of 2006. None of this changes the fact that life must go on, so sellers will sell and buyers will buy and all at the new values.
 
The biggest issue then becomes educating our prospective sellers and buyers to this new reality and this is where we shine! We simply must bring that reality to light for many a would-be seller. We do not take on a listing unless we know we can get it sold. The plain truth is if we don't sell it we don't get paid. In fact, if we don't sell it we simply lose money as we market each of our listings with the same tenacity and fervor as all of our others.
 
So, if you're a seller, forget about 2006 and start living in the present. If the cash you have tied up in your Lake Keowee property needs to be reallocated elsewhere that may have been similarly affected by "The Great Recession" then let us handle the leg work for you. If you're a buyer, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? It's a great time to buy as things appear to be getting better even if it's not by much (better is better!).
